I’ve got a Slack rec for you! If your team needs a quick, low-lift way to engage, try the ArtLens Slack extension. The app is a creation of the museum I grew up visiting when I was little. (Shoutout to the Cleveland Museum of Art, you’ll always be my favorite!)

At 9AM ET each weekday, the ArtLens bot posts a prompt along with a curated selection of artwork on a theme. Yesterday’s prompt was “Telephone Tuesday” and included photos and paintings from the CMA’s collection that represented the many ways a person might feel when someone calls them on the phone. Anyone in your Slack workspace that wants to participate that day chooses one piece that strikes them, jots a quick line about why they picked it, and by the day’s end the bot assembles a mini-gallery of everyone’s choices.

To give you an idea, here’s what the prompt looks like at the start of the day:

Here’s the piece of artwork I selected and my very-much-not-an-art-historian commentary:

At the end of the day, the piece I chose as well as all of my colleague’s will be collected into an exhibit for everyone to see.

It’s a tiny ritual that can provide an easy moment of connection and a fun bookend to the day for teams that are spread out over the map. Enjoy!
